The International Hot Rod Association can take credit for the introduction of a number of good things for Drag Racing.

Top Dragster and Top Sportsman, being two of those such ideas that were met with great racer acceptance as well as spectator approval. So with that in mind we are really excited about the addition of these two classes to the Benson Auto Parts Tour event to be held at Grand Bend Motorplex on June 11-13, 2010. The classes were a part of the 2009 version of this event and they added a great deal of entertainment to the fans that were present. The entire program for the Top Sportsman and Top Dragster cars will be run on Saturday afternoon and evening with the finals going under the lights on Saturday Night. This will allow anyone who wishes too compete in the $10,000 to win Super Pro program to do just that, with qualifying and eliminations being worked around and after the 10 Grander. The event will also give some of the Benson tour regulars who have very quick dragsters and door cars an opportunity to compete against some of the very best Top Dragster and Top Sportsman cars in the US and Canada. Southern Ontario has always been a hot bed for fast drag cars and even more so these days thanks to the Quick 32 Program that is run under Bruce Mehlenbacher's guidance. Top Dragster-Sportsman pilots Paulo Guist, Bill Maloughney, Tom Orr, Denis Souliere, Derek Tapp and others will be hoping to upset any and all of the ‘Top Guns’ they can at this race in June. The class is a hit no matter where or when it is run. We are hoping to have Low Qualifier Money like 2009 and will announce that once we have secured advertisers to make it possible for that to happen. The event will however pay a hefty $2000 to win in each division of competition paying back to the quarter finals. The class will qualify the fastest 16 cars in each class.
